Re:ColorsEdit

Imagine how orange and black will be looking here :) (The picture in question is right above this message, to the left of "Archives: #1".) Hit the Print Screen key, open a graphic editor and insert it there, and then try to experiment with black and orange. I don't think you're gonna like the result :) By the way, the SVG file we're talking about is a text file with code. Download the current file, open it with the Notepad and try changing the HTML color codes (they look like#******, with numbers instead of asterisks) to something new, from 00 (min) to AA (max) for RGB (2+2+2 digits for R(ed), G(reen), and B(lue), six in total). You can always drag the file to a browser tab to preview it. It'll look great with the browser's default white background, but on our wiki's dark one colors both too bright and too dark will look bad, I guess.

You did it wrong with adding the /Archive 1 part to your talk page address — for some reason you added _1 instead of /Archive 1 and then created the page. (Did I explain it that bad?..) Anyway, I deleted the "AKtrollin 1" page and created the http://rage.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:AKtrollin/Archive_1 page for you. Check it by following the "#1" link. And yes, you can still leave messages on my talk page, just like I do it here — and when my talk page will become long enough, I'll move all the contents (except for the Archives) to Archive 3. —    k78    talk    11:38, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

Re:Colors, pages, etc.Edit

Well, next time I'll make it a step-by-step list :)

I Am Alive Wiki seems to be rather "raw" for now. I tried the About page, but it's, well, not very informative :) Anyway, good luck with your adminship there. —    k78    talk    06:50, March 30, 2012 (UTC)

Re: EquipmentEdit

What are you talking about? Throw in some details, please, because I can't even understand what you're asking. By the way, do something to your signature, e.g. add "AKtrollin <small>(Talk)</small>" to your preferences (without quotes, of course, and don't forget to check the "I want to use wikitext in my signature" box), so that when somebody wants to leave a message on your talk page or simply view your profile, they won't have to use hard ways to navigate there :)

One more thing. When you add the quest infobox to a page with "(Quest)" in the name, like "Subway Town (Quest)", the PAGENAME template in the box should be replaced with the quest name so that the infobox title displays "Subway Town", not "Subway Town (Quest)" after the page is saved. Also, I've noticed that you often use location names instead of quest names, e.g. you misplaced "Subway Town" and "Subway Town (Quest)" a couple times recently — and experienced users, not to mention admins, normally don't make such mistakes :) I know that editing a few wikis in a row requires more attention from a wikian than editing a single wiki, but make the quantity suffer, not the quality. —    k78    talk    06:04, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, the sentence was small :D But what about the question of yours? Did you mean we lack a quest description or what?
I'm currently working on making a big graph for all the quests in RAGE with GraphViz extension on my home wiki. However, right now the picture is 2359×5003 px, and it keeps growing :( Guess I'm gonna have to look for a workaround after I finish adding all the quests. Anyway, I'll upload the resulting image here and then try to add links to quest pages with the use of ImageMap extension (according to Special:Version, we have it installed here). If everything's fine, tomorrow you're going to see the Quests page reimagined… literally :)
The funny thing is that I'm not sure whether we need such a replacement or not :) But still, I enjoy this new experience. —    k78    talk    13:21, March 31, 2012 (UTC)
I believe you know your current signature points to your talk instead of you profile :) Also, you didn't close the tag small, and so all the further additions to my talk page will now be small, until someone adds new heading. Do you try to save me some scrolling efforts that way? :D
As for the equipment — I now get it. I don't remember the box contents, and also don't recall the moment is becomes available. It should be somewhere in the quest descriptions, although I don't think the box contents are listed there. Apparently adding this details to the quest's infobox is gonna wait till I play RAGE :) —    k78    talk    13:40, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Re: It IS done!Edit

Congratulations! :) I believe I'm being late with my pic to finish the quest related general goals, though. Anyway, the major part (yours) is done :) —    k78    talk    17:55, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, a sequel… I'd enjoy it :) As for the check — don't know of a way to do it. Guess it may be present somewhere in Wikia's manuals, help articles etc. —    k78    talk    18:03, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Re:New Edit

If you want to create and implement the template, create the page and add the following code there:

align="center"|The quality of this image is poor.<br />You can help RAGE Wiki by uploading a new version of this image.
}<includeonly></includeonly>
<noinclude></noinclude>

The you can start adding the template to image pages (e.g. this one, etc.). Congratulations! You've just found yourself a new global task :)

By the way, did you get the idea from my DI wiki talk? :) —    k78    talk    18:04, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

Add the template before the Licensing heading, not after it. —    k78    talk    19:09, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Images Edit

Nope, sorry.

I got the images from a Youtube video. I never ended up getting the game.

Sláinte mhaith! - Hobbes (Talk) 21:17, April 5, 2012 (UTC)

Images Edit

When you add an image, it's important to make sure that you know its copyright status. The map images you've uploaded recently are definitely copyrighted since they originally came from the Prima Games online eGuide. It's best to avoid using copyrighted content (that's why I didn't upload the city maps myself), and if you upload such an image, always remember to set the license type to Fairuse during the process.

Also, don't forget to add a category to every image you upload. If you don't know the correct category, make it Images temporarily and try to sort it out later, when you learn more about the image categories we have and their contents. (Note that we have the map images category.) —    k78    talk    16:15, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

The Edit

Don't toy with the Resistance / Authority members categories. No The Resistance; the Resistance. No The Authority; the Authority. Don't know who, and why, started this "The" thing and other stuff, but they were wrong, because even in-game, it's "the", and when "the" isn't needed, it's just "Resistance" / "Authority". It's like calling the protagonist The Protagonist; is there something special about this word — like God, etc., — or maybe it's Raine's name? :) —    k78    talk    21:05, April 6, 2012 (UTC)

Admin Edit

Nick, I'd already made you an admin, but there's a "but". Admins are responsible for their actions, even when they operate outside their "home" wikis. All those typos, spelling, and other mistakes (e.g. that recent "her" (instead of "here") and "endevor" of yours, and "is(As" & "will(as" in your adminship request, along with yet another "her"…), — even I, with my clearly imperfect knowledge of English, can see it, and think about what would anyone expect from our wiki after they see that the RAGE Wiki admin allows himself such things, here or someplace else.

Mistakes are inevitable, whether it's just a typo, or an occasional grammar mistake, or something else, — and I accept this; but in your case, the mistakes are just too plenty. The first time I offered the future adminship possibility to you, I added "…the main problem is that the way how you've chosen to tell about yourself is largely the way how you edit the wiki"; sad, but it's still actual. And being a foreigner to the English language myself, I must say I'm disappointed with the language situation on our wiki…

Sure, being an admin sounds good, but did you ever try to think why it sounds good? Because admins make it look like being an admin means being a reliable person, a person who anyone can ask a question and receive an answer. The accomplishments you mentioned in your request are important, but you should already know that they alone never make someone an admin. What's much more important is that to be an admin means to quadruple the burden of responsibility. You won't be able to communicate that free from now on; you'll have to be more adult, more polite, more accurate in choosing your words, more careful in making statements (and many, many other "mores") than the average user. You'll have to act as an admin, not as AKtrollin. Being our wiki official, you will have to remember that your actions define what people think of our wiki…

Your personal adminship guideline is below. Be sure to follow it.

  • Improve your English. Remember that the wiki is more like a schoolbook than some kind of "How I spent this summer" opus or a chat.
  • Make yourself a normal signature or use the default one. Always add it by clicking the Signature button which will also add date and time to it. (You don't have to create either some code-based thing like my signature or make it lead both to your profile and your talk if you don't like the idea, but you may like to have something like <span style="color:#909000">AKtrollin</span> (which results in AKtrollin). Check Help:Signature and Wikipedia:Signatures for more info on how to toy with the signature, and colors and their names.)
  • Learn difference between abundant and redundant details. (E.g. your last addition to the RAGE article was redundant, as well as this reverted edit.)
  • Learn difference between article trivia and notes. (E.g. character/object models, game files, references to the real world or other media are trivia.)
  • Even if you want to add a small detail to an article, check the possible overall impact on the article. (E.g. link and fact duplications, etc.)
  • Read the Wikipedia Etiquette guideline and follow it. We "skip" certain aspects here on Wikia's wikis, but it's a very good guideline and is much better than the Wikia's Help:Wikiquette anyway.
  • Be sure to check Special:RecentChanges often. Always check every edit you find there (use diff to see differences). I receive Atom feed notifications from the wiki (thanks to my browser), but even done that way, I manage to miss some edits here and there.
  • Finally, be sure to browse Category:Admin Help Pages.

Well, I guess that's all… for now. Remember, we don't really need some "green" admin here :) Congratulations! —    k78    talk    15:02, April 8, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Bad imageEdit

Normally, we shouldn't have such pictures on the wiki, but the picture isn't used on any wiki-specific page, and it's not an unused image since it's found on a user's personal page. I believe it's a historical image, and it doesn't seem to have relations to some more modern pictures that are commonly considered the prohibited content, like pornography or torture photos. Consider this your admin test :) Use Help:Wikia policies page to find some useful information on the subject, and act. Remember, admins are not supposed to give direct orders to users or demand something in ultimate manner; also, your actions should be explained to the user.

There are a few ways you can choose. For example, the Wikipedia image policy says: "However, images that can be considered offensive should not be included unless they are treated in an encyclopedic manner". In our case, it may mean that we have to ask the user either to add some picture description on his/her page (including his/her reason for adding the picture to the personal page) or ask him/her to add the File:AnnaCharboniereTortured.jpg page to the Category:Candidates for deletion.

Note that when you refer to a file or article in a message, you should add a link. In case of this image, the link would be :File:AnnaCharboniereTortured.jpg (note the colon before the word File — adding a link to a file is like adding a link to a category, e.g. :Category:Candidates for deletion; and if you forget about the colon, the consequences will be inappropriate in both cases — with the file, it will be added to your message, with the category, the page will be added to the wrong category).

What's wrong with your signature again? :) Yesterday, there was a link to your profile, and today it's just a colored text. Also, where's the UTC time and date following the signature? It's supposed to be there when you hit the Signature button or add four tildes… Do you experience problems with the signature? Tell me if I can help. —    k78    talk    14:48, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

The signature code mentioned above is <span style="color:#909000">AKtrollin</span>. Important: I assume you put every symbol of the code in the "Custom signature" box in Preferences and checked the "I want to use wikitext in my signature" box. (Check if everything's done correct there.) Now find the Signature button above the edit window (it's the one that displays "Your signature with timestamp" when you hover it with the cursor). Open any page, find an empty line, step there and hit the Signature button, then press "Preview". What you should see in the preview window is something like --AKtrollin 21:57, April 9, 2012 (UTC). (I've just tested the code by putting it into my own "Custom signature" box, saving the preferences and then using the Signature button, and it works fine and is followed by timestamp.)
About affiliate wikis. Like our wiki, Nukapedia has one affiliate; The Elder Scrolls Wiki has four, and that's rather many. Most wikis add either general topic wikis or similar topic wikis as affiliates (or both). Some wikis choose affiliates by other criterion, but that's less common. Our affiliate is the Video Game Wiki, the general video gaming wiki. (I've just added a button for them, instead of the text link. The code is in the bottom of the main page. And remember: only edit the main page if it's absolutely necessary, it's not just another wiki page you can edit whenever you like.) The Borderlands Wiki would be a perfect similar topic affiliate for us, but there are two reasons I didn't ask them about that: first, our wiki is of lower quality at the moment, second, they don't seem to have affiliates at all… which means we must be in better shape to convince them, and that means "see the reason #1 again". (Also note that we don't really need some LQ wiki to be our affiliate as well…) Anyway, all this is the matter of time and hard work, so let's avoid making some epic jumps trying to make them or the Nukapedia our affiliates right away :) I suppose we could possibly have DI wiki as our affiliate, but there's neither zombie survival nor horror in RAGE, so I believe the wikis don't really need each other. Also, we can host up to six (five would be better) affiliate buttons on the main page without need either to rewrite every piece of its code or resize the buttons (which isn't good), and that we don't add a wiki as affiliate without a discussion. —    k78    talk    21:57, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Question Edit

Hi AKtrollin. I believe it's just a matter of contacting each wiki's admin(s) and asking them if they are interested in a cross-sponsorship or affiliation. You can find a list of admins by entering Special:ListAdmins into the search bar. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 16:00, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

There is already an Affiliates box on the main page (bottom of right column). If you're talking about something else, please link me to an example. JoePlay WikiaStaff.png (talk) 19:13, April 9, 2012 (UTC)

Re: The ArchivesEdit

Well, isn't that what I was talking about… :) Don't worry, I've added them to our affiliates section. And judging by the space left there, we only have room for three more affiliates before we need to change the page layout and code. —    k78    talk    12:14, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

I believe you may want to make a news update telling the community about our affiliate situation. Create a blog page as you usually do, but this time add it to the as well. Put a few words about the Cheevo Archive and our first affiliate there, and that's enough for starters. (Note that we only use "News" for RAGE related or some extremely important wiki-wide updates (you can check all the updates here), so don't overuse it. I now think my GeForce driver update is irrelevant, and id doesn't seem to produce anything RAGE related, so I don't publish news updates anymore. However, you could possibly add a short 1-month or 3-month summary of the "How we can improve…" issues there… um, why didn't I think about it earlier?.. OK, let it be a 3-month summary since the 12th issue is now out… :)) —    k78    talk    12:36, April 10, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Screenshots Edit

Yep, I can make screenshots (1680×1050px). —    k78    talk    01:07, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

As I said, mistakes are inevitable :) About the screenshots. I've uploaded nine pictures. Check here and tell me what you think. The Boost Recharge looks bad, but it's the best I could get on three arenas (in terms of detail and tire size balance)…
I see you're editing the DI Wiki? :) I've been "torturing" Bloodbath Arena last night. I always wanted to know how many waves are programmed to happen, so I took Auto Rifle, activated some trainer to save the weapon condition, preserve the ammo and health and started the game. When I made it to the wave 51, I decided to go to sleep :) Still don't know how many wave can happen… :) —    k78    talk    14:27, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

Some changesEdit

I believe now when you're making the car weapons and quick-use item pages we can finally distinguish the Raine's rocket launcher and bandit minigun from the vehicles' missile launchers and machine guns. (The hand-held rocket launcher and minigun wielded by bandit heavies are different from the vehicle weapons, aren't they?) That means we're gonna need to transfer all the content related to vehicle weapon usage from the rocket launcher and minigun pages to the corresponding vehicle weapon pages. And it looks like we should have the "Minigun turret" page to describe the turrets… Also, it seems that we need to distinguish Raine's quick-use items and the vehicle quick-use items: Raine's items should all go to the quick-use category (named "Quick-Use items" or smth.), while all the vehicle quick-use items will be housed in the new "Vehicle Quick-Use items" category. What do you think? —    k78    talk    15:36, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

(I assume you mean the vehicle ammo drops.) Yep, and I guess I'll add ammo screens later. You're very active today, got a lot of free time? :) I'm trying to create a sample Arena table for the DI Wiki to show the enemy type & level progress, as well as challenges that appear with new waves, and glitches. Guess I'll make 50 more waves today :) —    k78    talk    16:39, April 11, 2012 (UTC)
Nope, the ammo Raine uses is just ammo. But I have certain doubts now. Should we consider the campaign races vehicle ammo drops quick-use items?.. And by the way, all the Road Rage drops are called "recharge", while the left and right quick-use items are called "restore". Guess it means you'll have to create the "Road Rage drops" category or something in the kind and populate it with the corresponding articles… :) —    k78    talk    17:41, April 11, 2012 (UTC)
Sure! :) And I'll keep shooting zombies :D Guess I'll have to rewrite the Bloodbath DLC article… By the way, you can add the Northern and Eastern wasteland maps to the Prima Official Game Guide gallery because they're too taken from the guide. Also, I've noticed you seem to dislike adding a space before using an opening (left) bracket, as it can be seen here… :D —    k78    talk    17:54, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

ReturnEdit

Sir, I leave this wiki, because I feel my time has arrived. I cannot continue. And say to Kryon, that I was honored to edit with him. UltimateKrakenMutant 17:10, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

Might come back Edit

I might come back if the wiki is getting attacked by a Vandal or if there's a new blog on the Rage wiki.Dan67 22:49, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

Ingredients Edit

Don't edit those — I'm editing their pages right now and will save them all when done. —    k78    talk    22:23, April 12, 2012 (UTC)

Re: Red linksEdit

Yep, but first I have to finish standardizing the item pages and correcting a few mistakes with letter cases (e.g. "Quick-use Items" to "Quick-use items"). You can create the pages, if you like to, and populate them with few words :) —    k78    talk    03:00, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

Nah, have some rest :) I'll finish checking the articles and create them myself. —    k78    talk    03:09, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

Re: News Blog PostEdit

Yep, it looks good :) There are a few small issues (the the, etc.), but the post's rather informative, and it's interesting to look back and see it with your eyes. How about you becoming our chronicler and adding such an overview to the news category every month from now on? :) —    k78    talk    21:00, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

The last Friday, I guess, or maybe the last day of the month… I don't know whether it'd be worth it to separate the weekly blog issues from the monthly news; it's up to you to decide. —    k78    talk    21:22, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
Well, it's all the id's fault. They spent so much time making what turned out to be the shortest notable game of the year 2011… :) I wish it was something "a bit" longer, like Fallout 3 / Fallout: New Vegas or Skyrim, but I guess they just don't know how to make games that take more than a day or two to beat completely.
Anyway, you don't have to carry out all those updates. Perhaps a monthly wiki status update would be all we need to reflect the wiki progress?..
By the way, did you notice that "500 pages" message on my talk page? I checked it, and it looks like we're now listed there. I thanked the guy. —    k78    talk    22:04, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

More changesEdit

I want some page names back. For some reason, the infamous "decap project" I've been carrying out some time ago didn't end up well and when I open the square brackets and enter first letters of a page name I once "decapped", I still get an old name, not the "decapped" one (e.g. "[[des" returns Desert Spore, not Desert spore). The sole purpose of the "decap project" was to make the wiki easier to edit when it concerns using internal links, and I considered changing the in-game names to lowercase an acceptable loss. The goal wasn't achieved, and there's apparently no reason to sacrifice the in-game names and keep the "decapped" names anymore. I'll start changing many page names back soon, so beware that beer bottles are going to be Beer Bottles again. Tell me what you think about it :)

With that in mind, I also want to rename Quests navbox to Quest navbox. I've made it "Quests", not "Quest" because I used the A/T template as a source, and there are plurals there; I guess I shouldn't follow it to the letter… I've duplicated the "Quests" navbox and created the "Quest" navbox, so if you're up to removing a single letter from the template name on every quest page, you can start the process. (And delete Template:Quests navbox when you finish.)

Check Template:Item navbox I've recently created. It's a combined navbox that contain links to all the pages of items related to crafting items in RAGE. I had to add quite a few item categories there because many items are listed in more than one category.

By the way, what do you think about my new signature? :) I'm still experimenting, but I feel like I don't really need something fancy. Guess it'll do for some time. — k78talk 00:30, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Sample
OK, I'll stock up on some willpower and start :) I made a new wordmark in more RAGE colors. Compare both wordmarks (be sure to see the picture in 100%). Also, we could change the current link color to a new one, like Example 1, Example 2, Example 3, Example 4 (which one do you like more? I like 1, and maybe 2) in order to fit the new wordmark. What do you think? — k78talk 04:01, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
So you don't want to change the wordmark, but like to change link color, or what? I changed the link color to 1, let's see if we get used to it. About renaming pages — as an example, pretty much every page in Category:Locations should be renamed back, I believe, but I don't know if you're familiar with the process. I was talking about "willpower" because I intended to make "clean renames". For example:
  • Open a page (let it be Blue line station), find already existing Blue Line Station redirect page, click Edit on both pages.
  • Swap the contents of two pages and refresh redirect to make it point to the uppercase Blue Line Station page now.
    • Don't forget to swap the page categories as well. If you find the "Facebook redirects" category, check if the new (lowercase) version has Facebook likes; if it has, append the "Facebook redirects" category to it, if it doesn't have, then don't append the category.
    • Don't forget to repeat all the above steps for the corresponding talk pages, and complete the following steps for them as well.
  • Save both pages and close the uppercase page that now contains all the information. Leave open the lowercase page, which now serves as a redirect page that leads to the full (uppercase) page.
  • Select the lowercase redirect page and use the "What links here" tool available in "My Tools" button on the bottom Wikia "ribbon" toolbar. (Note that you can customize both the ribbon and My Tools menu. For example, I added "Upload multiple photos" button to my ribbon, next to the standard "Upload photo" button.)
  • Visit every page in the list and change every lowercase link (not just the one that leads to Blue line station redirect) you find there to its old uppercase version).
It took me about three full days back then to change the page names. Don't know how long it'll take now, that's why the redirect pages are needed… This is what I call a "clean rename". It takes an awful lot of time, but when you finish, you'll know the wiki structure and contents much better than if just keep "patching" the pages like you do now. To tell the truth, it's the infamous "decap project" side effect that allows me to automatically add internal links without first checking whether our wiki has some page a link to which would fit in the text. I just know all the wiki pages — I can't tell the full list by heart, of course, but I can add links to the text without even thinking about the process details :)
I don't suggest that you should change the page names, of course. The "decap project", along with its consequences, is my responsibility. (You can try it to know how to carry out "clean renames", though.) Consider finishing the Southern Highway article and creating the vehicle quick-use item page (check Quick-use items to find red link to the page that should contain the items and use it as an example of how to organize the vehicle quick-use items article). Perhaps you should create an article to describe the vehicle drops (or pick-ups) as well. And think about proper categories for the pages. — k78talk 15:35, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Changed the link color to "2". "1" is too bright, and when you see many links (I refreshed the Locations category that was open in another browser window), it looks somewhat terrible, just like the current wordmark color would. Guess we could use the "2" color in templates… I'll experiment with it in a sandbox and show you the results. By the way, the wiki wordmark upgrade I suggested would look better with the "2"-colored links (and possibly the templates) :) — k78talk 15:49, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Re: My WorkEdit

This new link color looked quite unusual. I didn't like the way Special:RecentChanges started looking over time so I changed the color back :( I experimented a little with colors, and some of the combinations weren't that bad, but then a better idea came to me. An old friend of mine works in a printing house; he specializes in prepress and may help us find better colors. I believe he'll be able to use the current wordmark as a source for the future wiki color space in order to find a nice color combination and create more integral (and very own) wiki style.

As for fixing the "decap project" consequences, you got it right, I'm gonna change the page names back. And I guess calling it "recap project" is a good idea :D However, I don't want to change some pages' names back. For example I'll leave both the Clayton's and Black's pages in their current state because using rank, title, etc. in a page's name together with the character's name doesn't seem to be right. Still, 99% of the "decapped" page names should be corrected, and the scale of the recap project almost makes me, well… out of words — at least English words :)

Guess I'll make combined navboxes for the campaign and multiplayer vehicles and for the vehicle items (when you finish recharge and pick-up pages). — k78talk 17:48, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

I made the Template:Vehicle navbox as promised and started adding it to the vehicle pages, and couldn't help but notice that you're gonna have to rename the vehicle weapons and quick-use items :) I mean, they're all capitalized in-game (and what else to expect from the game developers who call empty beer bottles Beer Bottles…). I'm creating red links on every vehicle page while I add templates there. Consider these simple rename task as you introduction to the more sophisticated "clean rename" :)
I also have a few suggestions. First, don't use the protagonist's weapon and ammo (etc.) pages to describe vehicle items. I know that EMP is the same as EMP Grenade, and they look the same, but think of the already monstrously oversized Template:Item navbox we'll have to add all the vehicle weapons and ammo to if we keep the EMP Grenades article that way and add vehicle ammo to the Ammunition page… Second, don't say what the player should unless it's absolutely necessary; use what's better, it's recommended, may, might, can, could and would instead. (Should consider is OK.)
And by the way, start adding spaces before "(" :) — k78talk 19:30, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Ah, I see we both have been busy typing :) We have the rank/title field; check Nicholas Raine. As for changing the Road Rage navbox — come on, we can't just put all the Road Rage content into it :) The Vehicle navbox will house the vehicle, and combined Vehicle items navbox will contain vehicle weapons, ammo, and quick-use items. I'll create it when you're done with the corresponding pages.
Also, you can edit the navboxes easily yourself. Open some navbox template (e.g. check the template link above) and copy all the code. Create the template page and insert the code there. Change the template name and rename the left sections as you wish, then remove the contents from the right sections (the contents follow the left sections and start and end with the square bracketed links to the items contained in a section) and insert your links there, separated with Dot. If you need more (or less) sections than you have there, copy and insert a whole section where you see it fit (or delete it, if you don't need it). Hit Preview button and replace Dot with <br /> where needed to arrange the contents neatly. Note that unless there's a reason to arrange the links in a specific order, it's best to sort them alphabetically. And that's all. Try it when you have some time, and use preview if you're unsure. — k78talk 19:56, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Well, cut one pages contents and add it to the other, then remove the other page's native content and add it to the now empty first page. Did I use a wrong word? — k78talk 20:01, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Yep, that's correct. — k78talk 20:10, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Nope, you expand the Edit button dropdown menu and choose Rename.
UPD: And the old one is used as redirect (there's a checkbox for it). — k78talk 20:24, April 14, 2012 (UTC)
Only when you rename a "fresh" page :) — k78talk 20:33, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Neverending MG Edit

Congrats with the "The Never Ending Machine Gun"! And I've just earned another "Amazing Ninja-like Wingstick Thrower From Outer Space" :) — k78talk 20:15, April 14, 2012 (UTC)

Boost Restore and moreEdit

In the article, it's both a drop/pick-up and quick-use item. Also, the notable part of the description concerns Boost Recharge, not Boost Restore. Looks like you'll have to rewrite the article completely to separate the drop/pick-up and Boost Recharge content into new articles. About the drop/pick-up: is it Restore in the campaign, or Recharge like in Road Rage?

A few more questions. I know that drops/pick-ups are pick-ups in the Prima guide, and I used to call them drops here and there, — so, how will we call the article? And about vehicle quick-use items — do you remember how exactly they're called in RAGE (e.g. in the shops and/or on loading screens), quick-use items or Quick-use items or Quick-Use items? :) We can always rename the corresponding article and category later, of course. Personally, I'd prefer to call all the quick-use items, both vehicle and carried by Raine, in lowercase, like engineering items… And the final question. Both the card and the in-game item are called Mine, so where did you get Drop Mine from? It seems familiar to me, but I can't recall why.

And a few minor details. Use "$xx" instead of "$xx", because it's always easier to click a group of a few symbols than a single symbol. Use "RC Bomb Cars" instead of "RC Bomb Cars" (or even something like "Stanley Express Mailboxes", when needed). Also, about redirects (just in case): it's advised not to use redirect loops, so if you find a redirect here that leads to another redirect, be sure to fix it. — k78talk 13:00, April 15, 2012 (UTC)

Strange, it's Mine for me (check here). And why "Vehicle Weapons", not "vehicle weapons"? Did you start your very own "cap project", or it's because there's just something special about RAGE vehicle arsenal? :) No need to "(re)cap" everything, dude…
A small article on Boost containing description of its effect and use details, a few bits on strategy, as well as basic description of Restores and Recharges, would be useful. However, sacrificing Restore and Recharge articles is unwise. And they don't have to look too similar. They'll have about 50% of common, or even more, but that's not critical because Restore is a quick-use item and Recharge is a pick-up, or power drop… whatever. And while one thing is used as a quick-use item, the other one replenishes the quick-use item's quantity. Use your imagination and add a few words to the Recharge article that aren't there in the Restore article. Check my recent addition, Plants; I didn't know what to say about flora in RAGE, I just followed my instincts and kept writing… and ended up creating a decent article. Note that you're likely to need to create the drops/pick-ups article anyway, so don't throw away the chance to make it right from the very beginning, without the later need to rename and adjust and swap info and so on.
That "Debts Unpaid" thing kills me :) I wonder how many more of those "minis" could possibly be there, and how many more times I'll possibly have to recreate that quest image map… Guess there's only one way to find out: to play RAGE again :) — k78talk 00:20, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

OK, my friend picked up some new colors. But there's a problem: he uses a properly calibrated monitor at work, and he says it could look very different on the usual displays we use… Are the colors OK for you? — k78talk 05:36, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Well, it turned out that the wordmark picture isn't orange enough to make the new link, button and "ribbon" colors clearly orange, not to mention intense orange… I've just checked the colors at home. Yep, they do look different on my PC's display, but it's not that bad.
My friend wants me to work with him. They don't get some huge salaries in the department, but I liked the "climate" in the office, and honestly, I could use some money :) I'm gonna have to learn a ton of different things; learning how to handle a few pieces of industry-specific professional software alone may take a few months — it's very important to now them well because a single mistake can ruin the whole circulation… I'm not that sure I'll manage as printing isn't my thing, but I guess I'll give it a try. Which means the recap project will take much more time cause I'll be very busy from now on.
I'm not sure I got it right about the Boost Restore, so correct me if I'm wrong. You're saying that the quick-use item (Restore) is the same thing as the pick-up / power drop (Recharge), right? If that's what you mean, then I disagree. The quick-use item is what you buy in the campaign or obtain before a Rally in Road Rage is, well, a quick-use item; the power drop / pick-up is a piece that you pick up to replenish ("recharge") the abovementioned quick-use item quantity. In other words, it becomes a quick-use item only after you pick it up. And if you mean that the pick-up / power drop in the campaign is the same thing as the power drop / pick-up in Road Rage, and that the quick-use item in the campaign is the same thing as the quick-use item in Road Rage, then I agree :) — k78talk 12:40, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

Sure I can make a comic about rage on the blogs but I may need to look over one of the clans to see if I can find a role and a voice for them in my blog.--Dan67 11:10, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

ThanksEdit

Thanks for the attitude :) It's appreciated :)

Today was my first day there. I now know where to find a water cooler, and I've noticed that the secretary there is a nice and cute girl, though she's a little plump for my taste :) The work isn't going to be simple. They want me to be the person who controls the quality and usability of source material received from the customers and then uses the originals to create files that the tech specialists will use to prepare plates for printing process, etc. To tell the truth, I'm kind of terrified by the rigor standards they have there — I'd never think it's that bad, especially considering the average salary. Also, it turned out that I'm not as "color sensitive" as the real pros there, which means my candidacy may be rejected soon, even though checking colors isn't my task :( And the fact that printing isn't my thing doesn't make it all easier to me, of course :) Anyway, I want to give it a try since all I potentially lose is just time.

I'll install some software on my home PC tomorrow and start learning how to use it before and after my full time in the office. Guess this means that our wiki's in your hands for now. Be extremely cautious and wise! :) I'll be able to keep an eye on the wiki from the office eventually, but it's going to happen only if I pass a hell of exam in a few months (I'll have to travel to another city since the head office is located there) and ensure my place in the company… and if I don't, I'm going to have much more time to edit the wiki :D

I'm very sorry for not being able able to carry out the recap project. It makes me sad, and ashamed, that I couldn't clean the mess… my mess. I suggest you keep the things that way for time being, and I'll just keep doing some small portions of the work from time to time. I'm not going to forget about the wiki and disappear; I'll check it every day, and I'll answer the questions you may have. Also, I can see a good in the situation: it's a wonderful reason for you to learn how to handle infobox and navbox template code :)

Editing navbox

Let's start with the navbox templates: they're easier to change, if not create. I believe we need a navbox that will contain vehicle weapons, quick-use items and power drops / pick-ups, correct? To the right is a picture of the Template:Quest navbox edit window (open it in new tab to see it in 100%). Open the template page, click Edit, copy all the page code, them close it. Now use the following red link to create the Template:Vehicle items page, paste all the code there and keep reading. Underlined with gray is the name of the navbox. Remove "RAGE quests" and replace it with the proper infobox name, e.g. "Vehicle items in RAGE" (no quotes, of course). The blue rectangular contains one row that consists of two sections, or columns. The left section only holds the row's name (underlined with green), which is better to be a link to a general item type page, e.g. Vehicle weapons). The right section contains the list of items (it's inside the red lines), e.g. vehicle weapons, which is better to keep sorted in the alphabetical order unless there's a reason to sort it in a specific order. Replace "Main quests" with "Vehicle weapons", then remove everything you see inside the red lines and add the list of vehicle weapon pages there, separated with "Dot". Press Preview and replace some "Dots" with "<br />" to arrange the list of vehicle weapons neatly. Note that the template is a table and the rows are separated with "|-". If you need to add a row, copy everything you find inside the blue rectangular and paste it after (or before) the current row (don't forget about "|-"), then replace the contents with what you want to add there like it's described above. If you want to remove an unneeded row, erase the pair of sections (like the one inside the blue rectangular). There will be only three rows in the vehicle items navbox (weapons, quick-use, pick-ups), so erasing is what you need to do. You can add either plain text or red links to list the pages that don't exist yet; the choice is yours. Note that this table ends with "|}<noinclude></noinclude>" used to properly close the table and add it to Category:Navigational templates, and you don't need "|-" before this line.

Use Preview once again to make sure everything's fine and save the template. Now add it to some page and keep reading. I added the category link above on purpose. I believe you probably could try replacing all the "border:1px solid #413D3A;" entries with "border:1px solid #DE8A41;" in the navbox templates you can find there since we now have customized wiki colors. Check how it'll look with the new "Vehicle items" navbox you're likely to have created, and change the border colors in the other navboxes in the category if you like the result.

I'll make the similar practical guide to infobox templates on Sunday. By the way, it looks like you're gonna have to make the second talk page archive right now :)

Bye, and happy editing! — k78talk 16:38, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, right, I'm doing this only because of the wiki, ahem :) Nah, I'm afraid the reason I do it is less "high-minded"… As for the wiki, I know you can be trusted to take care of it. I guess this navbox is the last navbox we need, correct? Which means there are only infoboxes left that we should add to some (many) pages. I always wanted to add a certain kind of template to the item pages (e.g. like the infobox on this Fallout Wiki page — I mean we could have an item's inventory icon in a corner while the actual in-game screenshot takes the big part of the space). The thing is, their template uses some kind of overlay and needs a few more templates to work, and bringing it to our wiki and changing the code in order to make it work here in the way we need would be complicated and is likely to take some time. I believe some simple template (like the quest templates) will do for now… — k78talk 13:16, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Rage Wiki's First Comic BookEdit

I Made the Comic and it's Called "Nicholas Meets the Scorchers" I don't know if it's well written or funny enough so i'm just waiting for a Response on the blog. Dan67 13:50, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
