“When we started RAGE, we wanted to do something different. We wanted to create a game that would stand apart from our earlier titles. We didn't want to follow the same formulas that we've used in the past. We wanted RAGE to break away from the simple run-and-gun gameplay that for so many years defined what an id Software game was, and I believe RAGE has done that.”

Tim Willits

Tim Willits is the creative director and former co-owner of video game developer id Software. He joined id Software in 1995 after impressing the owners and development team with Doom levels he forged in his spare time and distributed free over the Internet.

Willits has worked on Strife, The Ultimate Doom, Quake, Quake II, Quake III Arena, Quake III: Team Arena and Doom 3. He was lead designer on Doom 3, executive producer on Quake 4, and — most recently — creative director on RAGE, developed with the new id Tech 5 engine.

TriviaEdit

  • On August 4, 2014, he acknowledged the possibility of there being a sequel to RAGE, saying "We're not doing anything immediately with it, but when I designed the universe, I designed it in such a way that it would be easy to step back into. I'm still proud that we did something that was different – it wasn't like the games that we've done in the past."[1]

NotesEdit

  • He was referenced in the Doom movie as Dr. Willits.[2]
